WHAT TO WEAR FOR YOUR WINTER MINI SESSION
The Stefanie Cole Winter Minis were designed to be neutral enough to be displayed year round, but the perfect color palette to use for a holiday card. The studio is bright, cozy and unique. It is full of gorgeous texture and greenery to enhance the connection between your family.
So what are the elements that will make family photos look great?
Since we are working with a prop that has so much color, you really don’t need to worry about adding much color to your wardrobe. I think this couch looks best when paired with neutrals in a variety of tones and textures. If you’d like to add some color, you can go for a complimentary color for someone in your family to wear (such as rust, mauve or navy) and then keep the rest of the family in neutrals to avoid your color palette being too distracting.
There’s a lot of options you could go with, and your outfits can be as dressy or as casual as you’d like. Incorporating lots of TEXTURE and different fabrics will be the thing that makes your outfits look rich and visually interesting. Here are some color combinations that you can draw inspiration from.
SHOPPING
As always, we recommend dressing mom first. Why? We tend to be the hardest to dress and it’s important that you don’t end up constrained by the choices already made for the rest of the family. So start shopping for yourself first, and be sure to find something that you feel amazing in and fits the vibe you envision for your photos.
For flowy dresses, Baltic Born is a great place to shop (but be aware they only offer store credit on returns). For sweater dresses, Amazon has some amazing options.
Once you have your own selection made, you can start shopping for the rest of the family! You can incorporate a pattern (we recommend one for every four people) if you want to, or stick with all solids. Have fun, and remember - texture!
